Princess Hissa Al-Shaalan, wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, will inaugurate the event. The event will last until Aug. 10. The festival is organized by the National Home Health Care Foundation (NHHCF).

The event, with participants from Italy, Tunisia and Kuwait, is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors.

More than 160 government and private sector organizations will also participate in the event, including the sponsoring companies. It will also serve as a meeting place for Saudi businesswomen who operate distinctive small projects. Women will display a big collection of products.

“The NHHCF provides help to more than 5,000 patients at their homes,” said Dr. Manal Felimban, head of the medical and social center at the foundation.

Abeer Qabbani, head of public relations at the NHHCF, said the event aims to develop the concept of charity and volunteering work in the Kingdom. She also said that they work with participating sectors to provide qualified help to patients at their homes.

The NHHCF is cooperating with government sector hospitals to increase their patient capacity and also help them establish home health care centers.

The first festival was held in Jeddah in 2000 and since its launch has been a key annual event in the city’s calendar.

Following the huge success of the event in Jeddah, Riyadh hosted the Bisat Al-Reeh Festival in 2008.
