- JEDDAH: A man found dead near Mazar Sayyid Al-Shuhada in Madinah on Monday has been identified as an Egyptian who came to the Kingdom with his wife for Umrah.
He was reported missing since Sunday, one day after their arrival. His wife identified the body of her 65-year-old husband, police spokesman in Madinah Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam said. She said her husband had been receiving treatment for an illness that often made him lose balance and fall.
Al-Ghannam ruled out any foul play in the death of the pilgrim as the coroner did not find any signs of violence. However, the Prosecution and Investigations Bureau will need to complete legal procedures before the body is repatriated or buried in Madinah.
Meanwhile, the director of Traffic Police in Madinah Col. Muhammad Al-Shanbari has commended the cooperation of pilgrims and visitors that he says has helped ensure traffic plans for Ramadan a success.
Al-Shanbari said only two cases of road accidents have been reported in the central area of the city during the first 10 days of the holy month.
