Dignitaries, media representatives and members of the foundation were present at the function.

"Alwaleed Foundation's support has reached every area in this nation," Prince Alwaleed, chairman of the foundation, said on the occasion.

More than 300 volunteers who assisted the flood victims were honored at the ceremony, which was also attended by aid recipients. The charities that took part in the program included the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), Al-Bir Association, Al-Faisaliya Women's Charity, Alahya Centers, the Women's Charity Association and Almustawda' Alkahiri.

In a speech on the occasion, scholar Ali Al-Nashwan praised the volunteers for the huge efforts made in the distribution process. He thanked all those involved in making the project a success.

In June 2011, Prince Alwaleed distributed to flood victims the first 100 out of a total 1,000 KIA cars, the distribution of which was announced in March.

In February, the foundation announced a donation of more than 10,000 household items to aid the flood victims. The donation was made in order to ease the suffering of 3,500 needy families affected by the Jeddah floods in January this year.

"The people of Jeddah are very dear to our hearts, and support from the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation is a duty," the prince said.

The donation was announced following an extensive study to determine how best to meet the needs of those affected by the devastating floods.

The units comprised 4,200 air-conditioners, 1,384 washing machines, 2,078 cookers, 2,444 refrigerators and 628 carpets distributed by 300 volunteers. The aid distribution plan was based on a plan carried out in coordination with various charities with expertise and experience in relief work.

In the past 30 years, Prince Alwaleed has donated more than SR9 billion to humanitarian causes.
