- JEDDAH: The Arbitration Committee of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) recently held a meeting to discuss many important issues.
The Kingdom’s current arbitration rules and their coordination with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris were the main focus of the meeting.
Prominent attorney Khalid Alnowaiser presided over the meeting.
The discussions involved ways to keep pace with the advancement of Saudi investment activities and to make arbitration an effective and preferred method in resolving disputes between investors and businessmen, both locally and internationally.
The meeting ended with several important recommendations, including the organization of workshops in coordination with the ICC and the establishment of several training programs for lawyers both in Arabic and English in Riyadh.
A team from the Arbitration Committee plans to visit the Paris headquarters of the International Chamber of Commerce and the International Commercial Court to discuss ways to boost the skills of arbitrators and lawyers and hold workshops on arbitration issues. The date for the arbitration conference to be held in Saudi Arabia is also likely to be decided during the visit.
