Riyadh police arrested a bank employee for his involvement in the theft of more than SR 5 million from a customer account in collaboration with his half brother.
The bank employee issued a check in the name of his half brother capitalizing on the similarity of his name with the account holder’s name.
His half brother cashed the check and buried the money in an uninhabited area of Rass Province, Qasim Region. He used some of the money to buy a luxury car valued at SR 365,000 and registered the vehicle in his name.
The Criminal Investigation Department of Riyadh Police collected evidence and arrested the two half-brothers who immediately confessed to the crime.
Police retrieved the stolen money and the luxury car and the two are currently awaiting trial.
