Since January 2013 to the end of April of the same year, Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ), an initiative of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), provided 206 taxi cars to young males.

The cars were provided through BRJ branches as part of its taxi ownership program.

Abdul Rahman Al-Fihaid, BRJ executive director in Saudi Arabia, said BRJ male and female branches throughout the Kingdom have delivered 206 taxi cars.

Through the taxi ownership program, young males own fully equipped cars over a period of time.

In Baha, Al-Fihaid delivered the keys of cars to several young males. The cars were fully equipped and insured. The amount of the car will be paid on easy monthly installment over a period of four years, after which the young male will own the car.

Al-Fihaid said: "Through BRJ, we are seeking to create job opportunities for young Saudi citizens, in cooperation with several public and private organizations that support BRJ, including the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), Credit and Saving Bank, Ministry of Labor through its labor offices, Social Charity Fund, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), NCB, and other organizations that support the program to achieve its objectives."

Raed Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, a beneficiary of the program in Baha, said he used to earn money in the past by working on his private car, especially that it was impossible for him to purchase a taxi car. However, BRJ helped Al-Ghamdi to benefit from the program. Another beneficiary, Abdulillah Al-Zahrani, said the taxi ownership program was truly a unique initiative. He added that his monthly income is not less than SR 4,000.

Since 2003 when the taxi ownership program was launched, 3,488 young males have benefited from the program, while other 2,777 others have benefited from the truck ownership program.
