The volume of deposits in the listed Saudi banks grew by 10 percent to nearly SR1.15 trillion by the end of 2013 compared to SR1.05 trillion in 2012, local media said.

Al-Rajhi Bank captured 20 percent of all the banks’ deposits, at nearly SR231.6 billion whereas Al-Bilad Bank got the least share at 2.5 percent valued at SR29.1 billion by the end of 2013, Al-Riyadh daily said.

Based on the analysis of the structure of deposits, demand deposits captured the biggest portion of deposits at 59.8 percent, or SR693 billion. Share of Al-Rajhi Bank stood at 29.76 percent, or SR206.3 billion, whereas the Investment Bank has got the least share of 1.92 percent, or SR13.3 billion, the report said.

On the other hand, the value of savings deposits stood at SR17.4 billion, or 1.5 percent of total deposits. Share of Saudi British Bank (SABB) was the highest at SR6.7 billion, or 38.41 percent, whereas the Arab National Bank (ANB) got the least share at SR0.1 billion, or 0.6 percent of total savings deposits.

The volume of time deposits reached SR410 billion in the listed Saudi banks, representing 35.4 percent of total deposits. Riyad Bank got the highest share at SR75.2 billion, or 18.32 percent, whereas Bank Albilad contributed with the least share of 0.67 percent at SR2.8 billion, the report said.

Other deposits, meanwhile, accounted for 3.3 percent of total deposits with SR38.1 billion. Riyad Bank realized the highest share at 26.77 percent with SR10.2 billion whereas Alinma Bank got the least share at 0.72 percent with SR0.3 billion, the report said.

Meanwhile, the ratio of credit (loans) to deposits (CTDs) reached 81.3 percent by the end of 2013, the highest registered at Alinma Bank at 105.1 percent whereas the least rate was at Samba Financial Group (SFG) at 71.7 percent, the report said.
