Saudi-based frozen foods and natural honey company Sunbulah Group has plans to strengthen its regional market presence and global expansion.

The announcement came during the Gulfood show.

The group currently holds a dominant market share in the Middle East frozen pastries segment and a leading position in natural honey products, with its Al-Shifa honey brand.

Sunbulah is also a major player in the frozen vegetables market — commanding a leading market share in its home country Saudi Arabia.

“We look forward to further boost our hold in the region, particularly our dominance in the frozen food segment. We have plans to establish Al-Shifa honey brand as a leading global player,” said Samer Kurdi, vice chairman, Sunbulah Group.

“The group operates in more than 35 countries. We want to expand our geographic reach to 50 markets, with focus in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America in the next two years,” he added.

The company’s newly opened office in Dubai will serve as a regional hub, spearheading the group’s operations in the GCC region as well as growing its presence in international markets.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, Mazola, one of the leading names in the regional food industry, handed over some awards for its partners and distributors during a gala dinner on the sidelines of Gulfood.

Abdullah Binzagr, president of the company, handed over some awards, including the best distributor award.

The winners of the Mazola distributors’ awards included Al Seer trading “Oman”, George & Sami Khoury& Co. “Jordan”, Binzagr Company “KSA” and Raad Trading “Kuwait”.

Simon Gottfried, vice president of Basateen Foods Saudi Arabia — the manufacturers of Mazola products in the region, said: “Gulfood was a great opportunity for us to network with our partners across the region.”

Basateen Foods Saudi Arabia recently announced the completion of the new state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar plant expansion in the country.

The investment reflects the company’s commitment and strategy to produce increased volumes of Mazola products to meet the increasing brand share, product development and geographic expansion.

The five-day Gulfood show concluded on Thursday.
