Profits of 111 out of the 161 listed companies reached SR162.5 billion in Q3, 2013, or 46 percent of their capitals which stood at SR354.1 billion, according to a financial report.

Earnings of the listed companies by the end of Q3, 2012 touched SR143.2 billion. Accordingly, profits grew by 13 percent in Q3, 2013, or SR19.3 billion, the report compiled by Al-Eqtisadiah daily, said.

Retained earnings in Q3, 2013 grew by 18 percent compared to figures of Q2, 2013, which stood at SR138.3 billion, the report said.

Saudi Ceramics Company has its retained earnings hiked 245 percent of its capital of SR375 million to reach SR919.4 million in Q3, 2013. Othaim Company realized retained profits of SR423.7 million, or 188 percent of its capital of SR225 million.

Likewise, retained profits of Samba Financial Group (SFG) stood at SR16.2 billion, or 180 percent of its capital of SR9 billion. Mobily, the second largest telecom operator in the Kingdom, realized retained profits of SR13 billion in Q3, 2013, or 168 percent of its capital of SR7.7 billion, the report said.

On the other hand, the value of retained earnings in six companies ranged between 100-150 percent of their capitals in Q3, 2013 as follows: Yansab (Yanbu National Petrochemical Company) realized SR8 billion, or 142 percent of its capital (SR5.6 billion); the Arabian Cement Company has SR1.1 billion, or 138 percent of capital (SR 800 million); Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has SR26.2 billion, or 131 percent of capital (SR20 billion); Zamil Company has SR735.9 million, or 123 percent of capital (SR600 million); Astra Industrial has SR742.2 million, or 104 percent of SR741.2 million; and, finally, the Red Sea Construction has SR398.1 million, which neared its capital of SR400 million, the report said.

Regarding the biggest companies in terms of market capitalization, namely Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Al-Rajhi Bank, the ratio of retained profits to their capitals stood at 37 percent and 32 percent, respectively, the report said.

According to the report, STC realized the biggest retained earnings among the listed companies in Q3, 2013 at SR26.2 billion, followed by Samba at SR16.2 billion, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) at SR13.5 billion, Mobily at SR13 billion and SABIC at SR11 billion.
