The Saudi stock market bucked the prevailing 5-day negative trend and turned green yesterday.
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index performing in a reasonable range of 53.5 points closed higher to 7,098.48, adding 38.44 points or 0.54 percent for the entire session.
On year-to-date basis, the TASI’s yield reached nearly three hundred points.
Small cap with 1.24 percent upward jump remained prominent among market cap indices.
Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory, accumulating an aggregate of 547 points.
Real Estate Development showed the best performance among all sectors, surging by 120 points or 3.17 percent to close the day at 3,900.02.
Building and Transport sectors followed it, advancing 2.55 percent and 2.03 percent respectively.
On the negative side, six sectors including Media and Publishing (-4.61 percent) — the biggest decliner of the day — went downward, trimming an aggregate of 420 points.
Six out of top ten heavy weights rose from previous day’s levels, with Al-Rajhi Bank outdid rest of its peers, advancing 1.15 percent to SR 65.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by a margin of 102 to 39 and the prices of 15 companies remained unchanged.
Zamil Industrial Investment Co. and Saudi Paper Manufacturing Co. remained at top positions among all Saudi equities, soaring up 8.78 percent and 7.62 percent respectively.
Tourism Enterprise Company, on the other hand, posted the largest losses, falling 9.98 percent and closing at SR90.25.
Market activity remained roughly 7 percent lower than previous level, specifically 229.2 million shares worth SR 5.97 billion were liquidated at Tadawul.
The top five most active stocks also witnessed a positive change, with Saudi Mobile Telecommunications (Zain) increasing by 2.41 percent, Etihad Atheeb Telecom 2.36 percent and Dar Alarkan Real Estate 1.19 percent.
