Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index (TASI) rebounded Wednesday and dug in at 7,751.32, recovering only 28.6 points from the previous day's huge losses.
After a plunge of 162.6 points earlier it took a sharp uplift and crossed the break-even line, adding 0.37 percent for the entire day.
On an YTD basis, TASI registered a positive return of nearly 14 percent. For the day, only Micro Cap indices witnessed a negative change.
Most of the sector indices showed modest gains, accumulating an aggregate of 441 points.
Telecom and Agriculture were major gainers, which marginally increased by 1.3 percent and 1.1 percent respectively. On the other hand, Media and Insurance suffered worst of all sectors, turning down 2.8 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.
Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) and market leader SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) remained at top among big players, surging by 2.13 percent and 1.59 percent respectively.
The market breadth was slightly negative, with 58 stocks witnessing advances and 88 others marking a decline.
Bank Albilad showed the best performance among all Saudi stocks, moving up 4.07 percent for the day. Allianz Saudi Fransi Cooperative Insurance posting largest losses of 8.82 percent became the major decliner at Tadawul.
Buying interest prevailed at Tadawul, specifically SR8.1 billion were poured into the market. Trading volume was impressive, with about 346 million shares changed hands in the market, a significant 59.4 percent growth over the 50-day average level.
Dar Al-Arkan Real Estate continued its most active status, liquidating roughly fifty million shares and contributing 14.4 percent to the overall market volume.
While, Aljazira Takaful Taawuni Company continued its most liquid status, pumping a liquidity of SR925 million. But the company went downward by 5.63 percent, closing at SR47.
