The Saudi stock market continued its negative movement, marking another decline of 0.38 percent yesterday.

Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index after spending entire session in the downward territory ended lower to 7,195.67 points, down 27.35 points, from its previous day close at 7,223.02 points. It plunged to a maximum 57 points from the level of opening bell yesterday.

Large Cap performed worst among the market cap indices, declining more than one percent. The market leader SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) suffered worst of all large caps, showing a reduction of SR 3.75 or 3.85 percent to close at SR 93.75.

Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory, accumulating an aggregate of 378 points.

Media and Publishing sector continued its upward march and delivered a largely positive performance yesterday, soaring up 4.74 percent and crossing 4,000-mark.

On the negative side, six sectors including Petrochemical Industries — the worst performer (down 1.68 percent) ended in red, paring 261 points jointly.

Most active stocks closed higher from previous day’s level, with Etihad Atheeb Telecom surging by 4.38 percent, Dar Al-Arkan Real Estate 3.01 percent and Zain 1.2 percent.

Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by a margin of 83 to 58 and the prices of 15 companies remained unchanged.

Tihama Advertising & Public Relations Co. regained its topping position, jumping 9.97 percent and closing at SR 206.75. AXA Cooperative Insurance and Saudi Enaya Cooperative Insurance were other significant advancers which gained 9.8 percent for the day.

The level of turnover remained significantly elevated, trading volume at Tadawul reached 302.6 million shares traded. The 50-day average for trading volume is closer to 206.5 million shares.

Turnover of SR 8.4 billion surpassed the previous day's SR 7.4 billion, an increase of 13.4 percent.
