An 18-member Taiwanese trade delegation is on a three-day visit to the Kingdom seeking deals in the energy sector.

Members of the delegation met with top Saudi government and business leaders on Wednesday night at a reception hosted by Lin Jinn Jong, a representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, at his residence inside the Diplomatic Quarter.

The delegation, led by Jiin-Tyan Lee, arrived on Wednesday.

The Taiwanese envoy thanked the business leaders, led by Abdulrahman Al-Jeraisy, chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), for attending the event.

He said Taiwan has long-standing bilateral ties with the Kingdom, with many Taiwanese products sold locally.

Al-Jeraisy commended the delegation for seeking deals in the power industry.

"You've come at a time when the Saudi economy is booming. There are many projects in the power sector that have been undertaken. In this connection, you've come a bit late," he said.

He said that countries have locked up business ventures in Saudi Arabia.

"But there's still much that could be done. The market is big and I hope that you will forge cooperation with local partners in the power industry," he said.

Other business leaders present included Abdullah S. Bahamdan, chairman of Bahamdan Group Holdings Co.; Abdulrahman Al-Ankari, chief executive officer of Petromas Energy and Environment Co. Ltd.; Abdullah M. Almohanna, SANIB vice president; and Khalid Fahad Al-Boayz, KFB Holding group president.
