Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, toured the venue of GITEX at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Sheikh Mohammed, along with Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, inspected platforms of international companies specializing in Information Technology (IT), hardware and software, which are participating in this years' event.

The UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, visited the Ericsson stand.

Sheikh Nahyan was received by Nawar Atassi, head of accounts management, GCC Ericsson Middle East.

Wednesday was event day for Oman, who is represented by the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and won a prestigious GITEX award for its G-Cloud project in the category of Best Virtualization Solution Implementation.

The win behind ITA’s G-Cloud project is its significance as a shared IT infrastructure established to serve IT requirements of ITA and other government entities. G-cloud project is envisioned to setup a shared infrastructure including server, storage, and applications to meet Omani government IT infrastructure needs. G-cloud will allow ministries to focus on their core business, and thereby increasing their agility, improving efficiency and reducing the IT budget.

While, Etisalat announced its strategic partnership with Ajman Free Zone, to provide an improved telecom and ICT service experience to customers of Ajman Free Zone Authority (AFZA).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Etisalat’s senior vice president of small and medium businesses, John Lincoln, and Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hashimi, general manager of Ajman Free Zone Authority.

Another signing was between Technology, a provider of Open Source VoIP Telephony and Networking Solutions Company, and the technology arm of $150 million, Al Mashka Group announced the signing of the exclusive distribution agreement for Middle East and North Africa with 2N Telecommunications (2N). 2N Telecommunications is a leading European brand engaged in the development and manufacture of products in the field of ICT and physical security.
