The Saudi stock market logged mild losses Sunday, as the Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed lower to 8,739.73, shedding 21.33 points or 0.24 percent for the entire session.
After falling over hundred points earlier it bottomed out at 8,659.83 points level and started to rise again but ended below the break-even line.
Sectoral indices performed in a mixed fashion, with eight sectors accumulating an aggregate of 312.6 points and seven sectors trimming 300 points collectively.
Transport outperformed among the sectoral indices, advancing 2.12 percent to close the day at 6,803.25. Telecommunication & Information Technology sector followed it, growing more than one percent to 2,842.75.
Insurance and Petrochemical Industries sectors, on the other hand, posted the largest losses, falling 1.57 percent and 1.2 percent respectively. The Company for Cooperative Insurance and Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company recorded the biggest losses, going down by 8.36 percent and 5.89 percent respectively.
Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) and Saudi Telecom Co. showed the best performance among heavyweight stocks, adding 1.4 percent and 1.3 percent respectively.
On the contrary, market leader SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) suffered worst of all heavyweights, showing a reduction of 2.34 percent and closing at SR115.
Decliners outnumbered the advancers by a margin of 82 to 58 and the prices of 19 companies remained unchanged.
Tadawul volume went up by 6.5 percent and traded 224.6 million shares as compared to previous day’s 211 million shares. Market liquidity with SR6.2 billion remained almost unchanged.
Saudi Kayan and Sahara Petrochemical came out as significant players among most active stocks, offsetting their performance by upto five percent positive-negative change.
