Department of Zakat and Income Tax stated that its revenues for 2013 exceeded SR25 billion with an increase of 6 percent compared to 2012, when revenues reached SR12.8 billion.

The department stated on its electronic website that zakat returns will be paid to those who deserve it through the social security department in the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Tax returns from foreign companies, ruling out companies working in the oil sector reached SR12.3 billion.

The department has activated a number of electronic services through its portal; these included registering those who should pay taxes, issuance of special numbers, presenting zakat returns for taxable accounts and issuance of zakat dues, which are to be paid through Sadad system.

The number of completed dual tax agreements reached 51 at the end of the year, 33 of which are being signed and 13 are still under negotiations. Signing such agreements is stated to provide a suitable foreign investment atmosphere in the Kingdom.
