Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who is also chairman of the board of trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), will open the first international scientific conference on health specialties scheduled for March 9-11, 2013, in Riyadh.
The conference is aimed to acquaint trainees and medical practitioners on the latest developments related to different health specialties, SCFHS Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Organizing Committee Dr. Sulaiman Al-Omran was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency as saying.
The SCFHS has invited a number of global keynote speakers to address the conference on specialties including general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesia, family medicine, and internal medicine, in addition to a series of related workshops, he said.
He said the conference would shed light on the latest developments in medical education as a tool for the management and implementation of the programs.
It would also explore experiences of other countries in post-graduate studies, notably Pakistan, the GCC countries, Egypt, Sudan, Canada, the US, and Australia.
The conference will come in the form of a series of workshops run in parallel, but will allow interaction between the lecturer and the attendees and exchange of views on certain medical cases, he said.
