A medical team from Bupa Arabia conducted routine full medical checkups for all players of Al-Ittihad FC at the club’s clinic in Jeddah in preparation for the upcoming season.
The tests, in line with the strategic partnership between Bupa Arabia and Al-Ittihad FC, took place in cooperation with physiofit, which specializes in measuring sport performance and sport medical checkups.
The checkup included blood tests, ECG and ECO, lactate threshold and metabolic tests (VO2max — anaerobic threshold; carbohydrate — fat — heart rate zones), in addition to assessing any old or new injuries that could impact the players in the new season.
Jose Luis Sierra, Al-Ittihad FC’s Chilean coach, stated: “We first would like to thank Bupa Arabia for administering these particular medical checkups for our players. These checkups are a very significant measure completed by our team members to check on the health and wellbeing of our players, monitor their performance and make sure they are able to practice and play in major games comfortably without getting exhausted or exposed to injuries.
Tal Nazer, CEO of Bupa Arabia, stated: “Conducting these comprehensive medical examinations for Al-Ittihad FC before the beginning of the new sports season is an important and essential measure in modern football. It is done to ensure the safety of players and give the team doctor a clear view of the health situation of the current players and help them avoid the possibility of any future health hazards.”
Nazer added: “We have conducted several tests and analysis, including comprehensive blood and heart tests. We have also conducted a full examination on previous and recent injuries and the impact of these injuries on the field. Finally, we tested the players’ performance and measured their fitness levels to see the players’ ability to withstand exerted physical effort during the season.”
