In reference to a report on the confiscation of pirated CDs, play stations and video cassettes, films, posters and fake paintings by the authorities in the Kingdom. It seems that the authorities ignore the copies or imitations of branded watches, pens, handbags and key chains.
I was astonished to find the imitations of the branded items sold in malls in Jeddah. When I asked a salesman at one of the malls the price of an imitation of Cartier watch, he replied that there are levels of imitations, where prices differ from one to another.
The same goes for handbags, pens and key chains. Do the concerned authorities allow these items to be sold but not copies of CDs and movies? — Alwee Attas, Jeddah
