Al-Tuwairqi White got off to a flying start in the Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA) T20 Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament, sponsored by SSC, when they routed RFT Cricket Club by 44 runs.
Batting first, Al-Tuwairqi white scored 217 off 20 overs. Openers Khawar Sohail and Abbas Hussain gave Tuwairqi a rousing start of 198 for the opening pair. Khawar Sohail scored unbeaten 105 off 63 deliveries (4x14; 6x2). He got good support from his partner, Abbas Hussain who got 93 (4x13; 6x2).
Defending the target, Tuwairqi restricted TFT to 173 runs off 18.2 overs. Mohammad Usman contributed 78 which included four boundaries and 5 sixes while Umer Butt got 28. Spinners Rizwan Qayyum 2-28, Faraz 2-19 and Naveed Abrar 2-5 were the most successful bowlers for the winners.
In another match, Aims Bindelamah thrashed Kanoo XI by 68 runs. Having won the toss, Aims Bindelamah chose to bat first and scored 238 for 5 in their allotted overs. Tapas Chottopadyay stroked a briskt unbeaten knock of 57 off 28 balls.
Opener Mohsin also stroked a fast knock got 53. Munawar Chaudhary chipped in with three wickets for 40 runs. In reply Kanoo were restricted to 174 for nine wickets. Kanoo lost their first five wickets for 81 runs. Abdul Waheed batted well to score 35. Bindelamah’s Krishanan, Sorab and Waseem Malik bowed well and claimed 2 wickets each for 26, 23 and 27 runs respectively.
Later, Al-Ghamdi Cricket Club defeated SST Blues by 80 runs. Amjad Butt slammed 58 and Adnan took four wickets for 12 runs in Al-Ghamd’S way to victory. In reply, SST Blues were restricted to 142 off 15.3 overs with Kashif Riaz striking 44 to be the top scorer.
Gyptech Dolphins defeated Imran’s Tigers Academy by 58 runs. Abdullah Ahmed 43, Zuhar Bukhari 30 and Fahad Ashfaq 28 runs as their side reached 180 for 5 off their 20 overs. Imran’s Tigers Academy, in reply, mustered 122 off 18 overs. Gyptech’s Muneeb and Hamza claimed three wickets each for 20 and 39 runs respectively.
Khobar Badshahs Cricket Club beat Kashmir XI by 125 runs in a high scoring encounter. Batting first, Khobar Badshahs scored 273 runs for the loss of three wickets as a result of fine innings by Danish (80), Haider Abbas (68) and Ali Rizwan (62) runs. In reply, Kashmir XI were restricted to 148 for seven wickets in their allotted overs. Thanks to good bowling by Muqeem Ali took five wickets for 24 runs only.
Al-Tuwairqi Green defeated Bin Delamah Adpco by 36 runs. Tuwairqi Green batting first scored 212 for 4 in their stipulated overs. Asghar Malik hammered a breezy 86 with 11 fours and three towering sixes. Tanveer 65 and Kashif 23 were the other scorers. Nafsal took three wickets for 46. In reply, Bindelamah Adpco were all out for 176 in 19 overs.
Al-Fattah Friends XI thrashed Rising Stars by 103 runs. Batting first Al Fattah XI posted 191 for six. Hannan knocks 51 and a useful 49 by Samad and then dismissed their opponents Kashmir XI for 88 in only 16 overs. Asif captured four wickets for 12 runs only.
