ABHA: Seven members of a family — a couple and their five children — died on the spot and five others traveling with them were injured when their private vehicle collided with a truck in Asir early Friday morning. The truck driver was also seriously injured in the accident.
Ahmad Asiri, official spokesman for Red Crescent in Asir, said the operations room received a call at 2:31 a.m. about a collision in front of the Al-Orabi complex.
Six rescue teams were dispatched to the location, in addition to teams from the Ministry of Health and Civil Defense, he said.
“Such was the impact of the accident that the occupants of both the private vehicle and the truck were trapped inside. A couple and their five children were already dead,” he said.
Two of the injured were admitted to Asir Central Hospital and three to Darb Public Hospital, Asiri said, adding that a child was discharged after first aid.
