Officials at the Haditha Customs Office on the Saudi-Jordanian border foiled recently an attempted smuggling of 150,000 narcotic pills, Hadita Customs General Director Zaid Al-Zaid said on Monday.
Al-Zaid said the pills were carefully put inside plastic tomatoes and placed in boxes containing real tomatoes in the hope that customs officers would not detect the contraband.
He expressed appreciation for the Haditha Customs officials in foiling the smuggling attempt, adding that vigilance helps deter the entry of narcotics and other illegal items into the Kingdom.
The Kingdom had stepped up its campaign against illegal drugs and counterfeit products by holding seminars for Customs officers and employees at the Ministry of Culture and Information.
