The Boys Athletic Team of the International Indian School in Dammam (IISD) won several medals at the recent CBSE National Athletic Meet at Velammal Vidyashram in the south Indian city of Chennai.
“This is a commendable achievement because it is very rare for an Indian school from the GCC to win medals in CBSE National Meets,” said IISD Principal Dr. E.K. Mohammed Shaffe.
Last year IISD boys had the school proud by winning bronze medals in the National Athletic Championship.
Firaz Ashraf Ali of Class X, won 3rd position in three (3) events — 400m, 4 x 100m relay and 4 x 400m relay.
Naseef of class X, Abdullah Zackariah of class IX, and Salman Saleem and Riza Raheem of class IX won 3rd positions in 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay.
Abdul Latif Shaikh, IIS Dammam Physical Education Faculty, trained the boys and accompanied the Boys as Team Manager and Coach.
Managing Committee Chairman S.M. Thirunavukkarassu congratulated the boys for their proud accomplishment and promised all support to enhance and improve the current facilities.
