Following the footsteps of his teammates, Sri Lankan cricketers, Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara, who are running a very successful culinary business named “Ministry of Crab,” in a beautifully-built Dutch Hospital in Colombo, Sanath Jayasuriya, the Sri Lankan “master blaster” has also opened a restaurant called Qbaa in Colombo. Jayasuriya has hired staff with extensive culinary experience. The cuisine at Qbaa is essentially continental and fusion, while there is special grill set up each day of the week.
As regard “Ministry of Crab,” it’s is not only the beauty of the building that continues to inspire the seafood fans, but to be part of the old Dutch Hospital is to be part of Sri Lankan history. According to reports despite the high priced menu, we learn, the business seems to be booming with foreign tourists and locals, who could afford.
We wonder how many more Lankan cricketers will take to culinary business, a business that seems to be thriving now, in the island, with the large influx of tourists from all over the world. It is reported that not less than 25 more hotels are coming up shortly, in the capital, Colombo, alone! Thanks to the prevailing peace and harmony in the Island nation. — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
