Eid mabrook to every Muslim brother and sister!
There couldn’t be a better message on the occasion than the one Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has issued: “The celebration by all Muslims of Eid Al-Fitr is a manifestation of cohesion and an element of unity among all the people of the Islamic nations.” (“Saudi Arabia fighting terror for world peace,” July 17)
The king has aptly said, “This unity propagates the compassion, empathy, love and peace as the noble values of Islam.”
As we celebrate Eid, we should not forget those Muslims who are suffering in many places in the world, particularly in Myanmar. I hope this Eid will bring guidance to the non-believers in understanding the real purpose of their life in this world and also the message of Islam.
There are many non-Muslims in the world who know much about Islam and its teachings, and they also appreciate the moral world that Muslims still stand for at a time when the world in general is degenerating into a pit of uncivilized and immoral values. They need to find courage to accept the truth in open.
We also need to reach out to them and strengthen this bond of understanding to make the earth a better and more peaceful place for human living.
I wish this Eid brings better understanding of Islam both within the Ummah and outside. — Zakir Hussain, Makkah
