Korean luxury: 2013 Kia Quoris

Aljabr, Kia Motors’ agent in the Kingdom, unveiled its new luxury car, Quoris, at the recent EXCS motor show 2012, thus powering the brand to enter an entirely new segment of the global automotive market.
 Quoris is the first rear-wheel drive large sedan produced by KIA for more than a decade. It sets new standards for advanced design, new technologies and driving performance.
 Designing for a rear-wheel drive platform has provided Kia with an opportunity for proportions that define luxury and modernity. With a 5,090 mm overall length and 3,045 mm wheelbase, Quoris offers generous front and rear occupant space. The Overall width and height 1,900 mm and 1,490 mm respectively, create a spacious cabin environment, while efficient aerodynamics and close attention to exterior detailing result in a highly competitive Cd of 0.27.
 In a rear-wheel drive vehicle, the engine sits further back, pushing the A-pillar back, creating a longer hood and allowing a shorter front overhang. This creates a larger ‘prestige distance’ — the distance from the wheel center to the A-pillar. The shallow glass house is tensioned to create the ideal sheet metal-to-glass ratio, which gives occupants a feeling of privacy, and features distinctive window graphics accentuated by a chrome inlay, to give the car a premium feel.
 Quoris is powered by a significantly upgraded and refined 294 ps Lambda V6 3.8-liter MPI engine. The company will also release another 3.8-liter MPI engine refined 334 ps . The normally aspirated twin DOHC 3.8-liter engine is equipped with dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) and a variable intake system (VIS) — making it well-suited to power the new flagship model.
 Every Quoris comes with Kia’s all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. The widespread of gear ratios guarantees brisk acceleration and high-speed refinement, while shift-by-wire (SBW) technology with a joystick control delivers fast, smooth gear changes.
 The new flagship Quoris is equipped with an innovative range of safety systems designed to provide drivers with maximum protection and help them avoid or reduce the consequences of an accident.
