Makkah hospital probes death of two infants

The Maternity and Children's Hospital (MCH) in Makkah has launched an investigation into the death of two newborns, said Dr. Waleed Al-Omari, the director of the facility.
Al-Omari was speaking at a press conference held at the hospital to counter "false media reports" about the deaths and the hospital's patient care.
The hospital has already completed an investigation into the death of a third baby and found no evidence of mistakes made by the hospital, he said.
Al-Omari said the role of the hospital is to launch an investigation, write a report and then transfer the matter to the General Directorate for further investigation.
He pointed out that other neutral committees outside the hospital also consider such cases. Results of all investigations are submitted to the forensic medical committee.
Al-Omari rejected claims that there were 21 deaths at the hospital because of negligence and lack of proper sterilization.
