Marriott Jeddah Hotel, Red Sea Pirates, Saudia Catering post victories

The Jeddah Basketball League opened its 2012 2nd Conference Non-Rated Basketball Tournament last Friday at Bin Mahfouz basketball court at Andalus District here with Marriott Jeddah Hotel, Red Sea Pirates and Saudia Catering scoring victories.
Participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Commissioner Joe Dela Cerna presided. Jameel Lumanog of Jeddah Dawa’h Center performed the opening prayers and inspirational Islamic Dawa’h.
The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went ALJ Toyota, Marriott Hotel and STC Terabytes. Claiming the Best Mascot accolades were Saudia Aviations and Viagra Naghi. Best Muse awards went to DHL and Leylati.
Marriott beat Leylati 80-34. Marriott played good teamwork in the whole game. Marriott Jeddah Hotel GM John Louie, Chief Engineer Pambos Economides, Executive Chef Ajay Pant and HR Manager Das came to support and cheer their players.
Leylati tried hard to get its offense running but the Marriott defense was unbreakable up to the final buzzer. Aris Samson scored 19 points for Marriott and was adjudged as the Giordano Best Player of the game while Lloyd Canaya top-scored with 12 points for Leylati.

Red Sea Pirates defeated Mahmoud Gharib 62-46. Pirates played solid defense in the whole game. Mahmoud Gharib missed important baskets in the final quarter as Red Sea Pirates playing coach Lito Relatado masterfully planned his defensive plays to defuse the inside games of Mahmoud Gharib. Bestudio led Red Sea Pirates with 10 points and was adjudged as the Saudi Signs Best Player of the game while Chris Baniel had 18 points for Mahmoud Gharib.
Saudi Arabian Catering Company beat MODA 68-67 in overtime. Both teams played good basketball all game long. SACC was leading by as much as 18 points up to third quarter. MODA slowly trimmed down the lead in the final quarter and almost won the game but missed the winning shot as the buzzer sounded.
In overtime period, MODA lost its key players due to muscle cramps as the determined SACC converted its last offense for the win.
Zaide Lew Misal scored 16 points for Marriott but the Best Player of the game was Francis Fernandes who scored the winning basket in the overtime period. Roldan Bertolano and Reynold Borcegue chipped in 20 points apiece for MODA.
