RIYADH: The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) which works to strengthen and improve the United Nations guided by their vision of making the world body a powerful force in meeting common global challenges and opportunities, honored extraordinary Saudis for their rich contributions in different areas of Arab society.

“WFUNA honored a number of personalities from the Kingdom in recognition of their leading roles in Arab society in various fields of specialization during a ceremony held in Cairo on Monday,” UN sources said here on Tuesday.

Honoring extraordinary achievers, WFUNA named Princess Reem bint Mansour bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz and Turki Munawar Al-Makhlifi of Qassim University as brand ambassadors for goodwill and peace.

Princess Reem was honored in recognition of her humanitarian role in Arab societies while Al-Makhlifi was recognized for his role in the service of humanity, said the federation while honoring them.

Moreover, the federation felicitated Saudi artist Omar bin Mohammed Al-Jasser, who is the director of the culture and arts association in Jeddah, as one of the most influential Arab personalities in Arab society and the world.

According to WFUNA, “his selection for the rare honor is in recognition of his tangible efforts in serving the art and culture movement in the Kingdom in particular and the Arab world in general.”

Notably, Al-Jasser who has rich contributions as an artist is known for his production works, writing, directing and acting.

Furthermore, WFUNA also awarded honorary doctorate degrees to several Saudis which include Nora Ahmad Rashad (a blood vessels specialist), Omar bin Mohammed Al-Jasser, Fatima Al-Zahra Al-Ansari, Manal Sabhi from Taif University, Fahd Al-Qashi from the Ministry of Education, and businessmen Abdul Qader Baeshen, Yahya Khoja, Abdullah Al-Balawi, Yasser Abdullah and Tariq Al-Shami.

The federation is a global non-profit organization representing and coordinating the membership of over 100 United Nations Associations and their thousands of constituents to strengthen and improve the UN through engagement of people having a global mindset and support international cooperation.
