Nasair has won the Most Popular Airline on Social Media award at the SimpliFlying Awards for Social Media Excellence 2012, which was announced at the EyeforTravel Summit in Amsterdam.
The carrier managed to get the most votes for the awards, across all categories. Additionally nasair was the second runner-up for the Best Airline Driving Revenue award after KLM.
Shashank Nigam, CEO of SimpliFlying, said: “Nasair managed to get the most votes for the awards, across all categories. Nasair got 60.5 percent of the votes in two weeks. It has shown that the success of social media depends on passion and dedication, not resources.”
Capt. Francois Bouteiller, CEO of nasair, said: “The whole nasair team is very proud of the achievements of our interactive marketing team headed by Akram Husain since the interaction with our nasair customers has always been of paramount importance and I am glad that new technology, on which nasair has always been very active, assists us on providing better services to our customers and enhancing our revenue.”
He added that nasair scored a lot of points in the past few months, including signing a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways.” Akram Husain, interactive marketing director, nasair, says: This award is dedicated to nasair fans on social media. We had started this journey together with our fans and followers, and many more achievements are on the horizon for nasair.”
The award process began almost two months ago by opening nominations in 5 categories — three for airlines and one each for airports and travel solution providers. Over 50 high-quality nominations were received from Airlines & Airports, of which overall 21 candidates across 5 categories made it to the shortlist.
These finalists went on to compete for public votes.
