Filipinos living in Saudi are invited to a dinner hosted by Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago at the Philippine Embassy inside the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh on Wednesday.
“I am happy to express Eid Mubarak greetings to all Filipinos in Saudi Arabia, whether you are Muslim or not,” he said.
He expressed hope the gathering will instill goodwill, love, friendship and brotherhood among all Filipinos. The Ministry of Interior estimates there are about 580,000 Filipinos living in the Kingdom.
“This is an occasion for everyone to reach out to each other and to our respective families in the Philippines and elsewhere,” he said.
He added, “we wish all Filipinos the blessings of Eid and we at the embassy look forward to celebrating this occasion for many years to come. Let's take care and be healthy and be bound by goodwill, camaraderie, friendship and love.”
Ambassador Tago also said Eid Al-Fitr was celebrated as a national day in the Philippines on Monday, adding the Philippine Embassy will resume its regular working hours on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As part of a tradition, Ambassador Tago has invited his countrymen to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr since his posting as consular general to Jeddah in 2007.
