The Modi brigade

This has reference to two letters “Wishful Thinking” by Ravi Seru and “Gujarat riots” by Harshad Patel. Ravi is proud that Narendra Modi is not corrupt, does not promote nepotism, has provided good governance and is an inspiring leader. He also advises others not to be biased against Modi. And Harshad, keen on coronation of Modi in Delhi and as any other ardent supporter of Modi brigade, points out the latter’s repeated victory in Gujarat and cites anti-Sikh riots in Delhi as a justification to ignore the pain and plight of Gujarat riot victims.
First of all what is the prime duty of a government? What is good governance? To provide security and safety to its all citizens is the prime duty and sign of good governance and it is not just gauged by infrastructural development. In good governance, the minority communities feel safe and have equal opportunity with the majority in all fields. They feel fearless and secure. Is this happening in Gujarat? Hitler’s government was the best for Germans and he was elected and he was an inspiring leader, but he brought tragedy to the nation and to whole world because he put Germans first. Recently, Modi expressed his view on secularism, saying “India first is secularism,” Ravi and Harshed Patel might have been overawed over the statement. This kind of jingoism may sound inspiring to followers and these inspired followers are dangerous like their leader. Before the previous election, all of us have seen a sting operation on a national channel where the culprits proudly confirmed their “heroic” acts of how they gang-raped, burned alive and how they killed a pregnant women. They were all are inspired by Modi and Modi gets inspired by them. — Ansar Shuqaiq, Jazan
