DPWorld, ABTC and Friday Bulls post win in ASTEC event

DPWorld Tennis Club narrowly defeated Red Sea Tennis Players in their category B1 matchup as it registered a 2-2 win on points (28-26) and in category B2 it duplicated that points win beating Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club 3-1 in the ASTEC Team Tennis Tournament.
Ace Breakers Tennis Club also had two wins with its B2 team beating Sarimanok on points 2-2 (30-23) and its C players stopping the surging JRTC-ANTA 3-1. Friday Bulls, on the other hand, won their category MMX assignment against RSTP by 3-1 and their LMX team stunned JRTC-2 on identical 3-1 scorecard.
DPWorld traded wins with RSTP in their category B1 encounter. DPWorld lost the first set with Dennis and Gerry Alcantara losing to Al Manarandong and Alama Macapaar 6-8.
In the second set, DPWorld countered as Gil Tingabngab and Jotham Matin-ao coasted to an 8-3 triumph against Jojo Aran and Benny Lazarte. In the third set singles, RSTP’s Ramon Monterde endured a late rally by Ricky Mediavillo to win 8-6 and put RSTP on top 2-1.
In the thrilling fourth set closer, DPWorld’s Rhill Macapagal and Allan Bergosa had to endure the tiebreak to win 8-7 against a fighting Tonton Pana and Domelo Gesto to tie the match at 2-2 and win via points 28-26. In their category B2 outing DPWorld almost made a sweep of JRTC except that DPW’s second set pair of Conrad Matias and Andres Alfante lost the tie-break to Lao and Ali Isha 7-8. First set was won by DPWorld’s Bennie Oandasan and Faiz Bilao Amil at 8-6 after a close fight with Faizal and Muhaimen.
DPW’s Ador Olivo mastered the third set singles scoring a runaway 8-2 against JRTC’s Daud. In the deciding fourth set, DPW’s Joel Chan and Lito Mosquera coasted to 8-3 win over Hakim and Acmad Sani to claim the match at 3-1 much to the delight of their GM Ahmed Al-Amoudi of DP World Jeddah.
ABTC had a hard time winning a close match against Sarimanok. Controlling the first set with Ramil and Nilo Borata streaming to an 8-2 win against Ali and Ed Belen, ABTC suffered two setbacks after Egay Go and Gilbert Bruno lost a 7-8 tiebreak to Sammy Macapaar and Farouk Salacop then Roel Manarang lost the third set singles in another 7-8 tiebreak to Noor Hadji Halil.
Undaunted, fourth set pair Waleed and Sol Bartolome stopped Alex and Michael on their tracks with an 8-5 win to give victory to ABTC via points.
In the category C, sister team ABTC-Binladen showed promise in a 3-1 victory against JRTC-ANTA. Rogelio Reyes and Ronald Versoza took the first set against Farouk Salacop and Osop Patara 8-5.
Then Joel Garcia and Pudin Dianalan took the second set over Raldi Sultan and Nick Katigbak at 8-4. In the third set singles, newcomer Reygil Millabangio defeated the seasoned Alex Modi at 8-4 to ice the match at 3-1. Playing for points in the fourth set, Florido Bayal and Frederick Pamplona lost out to Ali Lagrado and Michael Pagandaman.
Friday Bulls Tennis Club had a successful week when their MMX team beat the highly touted RSTP 3-1. Carding two successive set tiebreak wins with Rene Ponce and Cromwel Marzo beating Winston and Ramzi Ali in the first set and then Ahmed Shouki and Ali Abbas taking one over Ramon Monterde and Ron Valdez to register a 2-0 lead. RSTP’s Tonton Pana and Jonathan Contreras took the third set by 85 against Ed Tugade and Sev Sumaya.
In the crucial fourth set, Marlon Delfin and Alex Duma clipped RSTP’s Vic Alvaran and Majed Bukhari at 8-4 to give a 3-1 victory to Friday Bulls. In LMX Friday Bulls continued their streak as they beat JRTC-2 3-1. Marlon Delfin and Aldwin Teston won over Nash and Kim at 8-2. Second set saw Ed Belen and Baron Sulpicio lose out to Halim and Art Simene at 5-8.
Third set had Noel Regio and Noel De Guzman winning over Podin Dianalan and Acmad Sani 8-6 and in the fourth canto Ali Sakay and Mark Salas defeated Joe and Mohd Nour to end the match 3-1 for Friday Bulls.
