The Social Security Agency (SSA), an affiliate of the Ministry of Social Affairs, has deposited SR 135 million in the accounts of beneficiaries of the social security program within the Cash Assistance for Food Program for this month.
The funds were deposited based on the number of family members benefiting from the program in addition to their basic pension funds, said Ministry Spokesman Khalid Al-Thibaiti.
He said the program is implemented in line with a royal decree which stipulated that the size of a family benefiting from the cash assistance program for food be raised from eight to 15 members. The Minister of Finance also decided to allocate SR 4.5 billion to activate the social security programs.
He said the Cash Assistance for Food Program is one of seven programs aimed to support needy families.
The remaining six programs cover home furnishing, school supplies, paying part of electricity bills, health insurance, production projects, and home restoration projects. The programs are separate from regular monthly benefits, he said.
