A total of 250 exhibitors are showcasing their key products at the 22nd edition of Saudi Building and Interiors Exhibition 2013 (SBIE) in Jeddah.
Organizers say the show serves the SR 285 billion worth of projects announced in the Kingdom's annual budget.
Hani Abu Ras, mayor of Jeddah, opened the annual event at the Jeddah Centre for Forums and Events in the presence of Al-Shareef Moufaq Al-Harithy, CEO of Al Harithy Company for Exhibition (ACE).
The exhibition continues its success year after year because the Kingdom is focusing on developing infrastructure and construction projects for both public and private sectors, said the mayor.
Moufaq Al-Harithy said: "Saudi Arabia is emerging as the fastest growing construction market in the world. The country has become the land of opportunity for its ever-booming building and construction sector and related machinery."
The four-day event showcases materials and hardware, climate control, construction equipment and tools, electricity and lighting, environmental conservation, marble, granite and stones, technology safety, security and fire prevention, water technology as well as waste management.
Organizers expect visitor numbers to increase by over 25,000 during the four-day show, when compared to last year.
Alongside SBIE, The Construction Machinery Showcase organized jointly between Dubai-based publishing house CPI and ACE, will be the largest heavy construction machinery event in the region.
A high-profile symposium will also take place, addressing topical issues and latest developments and challenges in the field organized by the Saudi Quality Council addressed by leading experts in the industry.
