The world’s richest man, Mexican telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim Helu, with a net worth of $ 73 billion, is planning to invest in petrochemical projects in Jubail and in other projects in undisclosed sectors, according to Saudi and Mexican sources.
Saudi Ambassador to Mexico Hussein Al-Asiri accompanied the billionaire during his business mission here. He said Slim’s visit to Riyadh came within the framework of the Saudi-Mexican commercial ties.
Slim visited Jubail with Al-Asiri to check the feasibility of the plans and the projects in which he showed keen interest.
Slim visited the Kingdom in response to an invitation by the Minister of Finance Ibrahim Al-Assaf, according to Mexican Ambassador Arturo Trejo.
Trejo told Arab News that Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, and Prince Muqrin, second deputy premier, received the tycoon during his stay in the capital.
Slim also visited Janadariyah festival and is planning to “invest billions to build new manufacturing plants,” said media reports yesterday.
Trejo said Slim came here as a friend Saudi Arabia.
