A Taiwanese food festival drew some 400 guests at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office on Monday night.
Welcoming guests, Jinn Jong Lin, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Riyadh, said: “I hope that this Taiwanese food festival will help Saudis and other nationals know more about Taiwanese culture and strengthen the relationship between the two sides.”
The visitors included well-known Saudi businessmen and senior officials from different fields, foreign nationals and the Taiwanese community.
Jinn said that the Republic of China on Taiwan and the Kingdom “have been enjoying good relationship and I hope that they continue their friendship and have more bilateral cooperation.”
He expressed the hope that the guests would enjoy the different dishes from well-known Taiwanese restaurants like
Mirage, Lai-Lai and Dainty.
The dishes included green onion pancake, tea eggs, radish cake, steamed bun, fish ball soup, bubble tea, glutinous rice dumpling and Mongolian barbecue.
The guests expressed happiness for having attended the event as Jinn and other Taiwanese officials and the food caterers mingled with the guests to find out if they were enjoying.
To add fun to the event, there were games for kids and prizes for the winners. A Taiwanese computer firm, Asus, took the opportunity on the occasion to introduce its
latest products in the local market.
“It’s fun being here. Coming from an Asian country, I like the food. Our children does not only enjoy the food but the games as well,” said a Filipino engineer.
