LOS ANGELES: Carl Crawford homered twice and left-hander Clayton Kershaw worked eight shutout innings as host Los Angeles Dodgers took its second straight three-game series with a 2-0 victory over Milwaukee Brewers Sunday.
Kershaw (3-2) allowed four hits and struck out 12 while lowering his earned run average to 1.73.
Padres 6 Giants 4: Chase Headley, Nick Hundley and Alexi Amarista each homered and San Diego completed a three-game sweep of visiting San Francisco.
Pablo Sandoval had four hits for the Giants, who have lost five straight games and eight of their last 12.
Hundley’s two-run blast to left field in the first put the Padres ahead 3-1. Amarista belted a two-run homer in the fourth and scored on a passed ball in the sixth, allowing the Padres to take a 6-2 lead.
Diamondbacks 4 Rockies 2: Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4 and scored two runs and Patrick Corbin pitched effectively into the seventh as host Arizona claimed three of four in the series and pulled even with Colorado atop the National League West standings.
Corbin (3-0) held the Rockies to two runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki left in the third inning with a left shoulder strain.
Phillies 5 Mets 1: Pinch hitter Ryan Howard belted a two-out, two-run double to break a tie in the seventh inning and visiting Philadelphia went on to complete a three-game sweep.
Phillies starter Cole Hamels (1-3) walked six in six innings, but allowed only two hits, one run and struck out eight for his first victory.
Howard, who has recorded 10 RBIs in his last five games and seven in the series, made it 3-1 with his clutch hit and Freddy Galvis homered in the fifth for Philadelphia.
Pirates 9 Cardinals 0: Jeff Locke pitched seven shutout innings and Russell Martin hit two homers, lifting visiting Pittsburgh in the rubber game of a three-game series at St. Louis.
Locke (3-1) allowed three hits for the Pirates, who have won eight of their past 10 and moved one-half game ahead of the Cardinals in the NL Central.
Reds 5 Nationals 2: Brandon Phillips drove home two runs and rookie Tony Cingrani struck out 11 as Cincinnati avoided a four-game sweep at Washington.
The Reds snapped an eight-game road losing streak, improving their record away from home to 2-8.
Marlins 6 Cubs 4: Ricky Nolasco pitched seven strong innings and Giancarlo Stanton homered twice as host Miami salvaged the final game of a four-game series.
Nick Green also hit a home run for the Marlins, who won for only the second time in eight games.
