The Pakistan International School-Jeddah (English Section) organized the annual Qur’an recitation competition for its students yesterday. The objective of organizing the competition is to encourage the students to read and learn the Holy Qur’an alongside enhancing their capabilities and talents.
The competition is organized annually, where the participants are evaluated for the correct use of “tajweed” (recitation, modulation and memorization). The competition aims to communicate and instill religious values in children, while promoting the correct use of Arabic.
The competition was held among the students of grades Y1-Y8 in two phases. Phase 1 comprised students from Y1-Y4 and Phase 2 included the students from Y5-Y8 followed by the prize distribution ceremony at the end. The competitors had to pick out a slip and recite particular verses from the Qur’an in front of the audience and judges.
