Bloodshed continues in Syria

I am pained to see the international community’s silence over unabated killings of Syrians by the Assad regime. As the conflict worsens following the Israeli bombardments of targets in Damascus, the use of chemical weapons by the brutal regime, the world community does not seem to be moved by the unfolding catastrophe. It has not yet come forward to help the dying and defenseless masses in Syria who are doing their utmost to uproot the regime.
On the contrary, China, Russia and Iran are rock solid in their support to the butchers of Syria.
The Syrian crisis is a real test for the world community that has already proven itself to be impotent, hypocrite, double-faced, duplicitous and deceitful. International organizations like the UN are quite indifferent to any calamity hitting an Arab country like Syria. They are only there to serve the interests of big powers. As regards the OIC and Arab League, they are even worse. Their members just discuss and pass resolutions that eventually do not have any bearings on world polity.
As the bloodshed continues in Syria, I wonder what is the use of these world organizations, both international and regional, when nothing concrete can be achieved through them. It is quite shameful for all of us for not helping the innocent people of Syria who are losing their precious lives fighting the regime of Assad. — Rashid Mahmoud, Jeddah
