Judges’ performance to be tested

The Supreme Judiciary Council is developing a test to measure the performance of both veteran and new judges across the country, said Council Member Muhammad Amen Merdad.
“Those who fail the tests will undergo further training courses and rehabilitation,” he told a local newspaper.
He explained that construction of court buildings has begun. “It will take into account the specialty of the court and keep apace of the project to develop the judiciary in general,” he added, pointing out that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has taken a personal interest in this matter.
“The Supreme Judiciary Council is keen on improving the living status of the judiciary by introducing medical insurance and other benefits,” said Merdad on the sideline of the meeting of judiciary committees held recently in Jeddah.
He confirmed that the council investigates all complaints against judges to make sure that they are legitimate before taking any action.

He explained that supervising the judiciary does not mean questioning judges or minimizing their efforts. “This measure stems from our keenness and care for what is fair and just.”
