Astec Team Tennis set for championship playoffs

After two grueling months of tennis hostilities, the time has come to separate the chaff from the grain as 12 out of the starting field of 60 teams in the 25th Astec Team Tennis Tournament 2013 contest six championship titles in various categories.
The finals will see each team measure up to its strength, formulate strategies and try to raise its game a notch higher in order to win a no-tomorrow last match.
Leading the list of finalists are C category finalists ABTC-Binladen and JRTC-Anta. ABTC-Binladen won the semifinals match via a 2-1 score against National Commercial Bank (NCB) while JRTC-Anta defeated SCTC-Pepsi by a 3-1 scoreline.
In the B2 category, Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP), 3-0 winner against DP World, will test the mettle of ABTC which secured its slot via a super tiebreak win against DJ Auto Parts.
In the B1 category, the championship clash will be between Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club, a 2-1 semis winner over Shuman International, and Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP) which disposed of DP World in straight sets 3-0.
In the mixed categories, the Lower-Mixed (LMX) final is expected to be a tossup between ELAF Group, who put a stop to the unbeaten run of newcomer SSS with a 3-1 win in the semifinals, and RSTP, 2-1 winner over JRTC-Rash.
In the Middle-Mixed (MMX) category, Sarimanok, which won 2-1 against Friday Bulls, will defend its category championship against DJ Auto Parts which halted RSTP-2 in its tracks with a 3-1 win in their semifinals encounter.
And in the Higher-Mixed (HMX) category, it will be defending champion RSTP against Fuchs in a rematch of their final battle in the previous conference.
Organized by the Association of Tennis Clubs (Astec) Jeddah, this team tennis tournament being played at the Al-Bilad Hotel and Sheraton Hotel tennis courts is supported by Deltaz Marketing (Racquet Shop) through Tony Kassis, Maher Tebakhi and Amin Malik.
