The Psychological Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) will launch the first psychological conference in the Kingdom at the beginning of the new Hijri year.
The conference will include psychologists, academics, doctors and counselors. It aims to develop and nurture the skills of chamber employees, solve their social and psychological problems and motivate them to reach the highest levels of personal productivity.
During the meeting, which was attended by the chamber’s Assistant Secretary-General Muhyi Al Din bin Yahya Hakami and Mesfer bin Mohammad Al-Muleis, head of the committee, the chamber unveiled the setting up of a hotline that deals with the community’s psychological inquiries.
Muhyi Al-Din emphasized the chamber’s role in supporting plans, programs and activities for the local community through its Psychological Committee. The chamber strives to take the help of psychologists in maintaining the psychological health of the community. This will follow a pioneering vision that applies the highest academic and professional levels in psychology.
Al-Muleis said psychological depression is the second foremost illness in the world. For that reason, there should be cooperation with universities, hospitals and psychological clinics to combat depression.
The committee’s mission is represented in providing unique services that combine expertise with knowledge. The chamber aims to participate in developing psychological facilities, strengthening knowledge and participating in community service.
He further said that there needs to be a full database for the social and economic sectors and called for the provision of a scientific environment for studies and research in the different psychological and social fields, in addition to forging partnerships with these fields in order to provide services.
Vice president of the Psychological Committee, Jazaa Al-Mutairi, said the purposes of the Psychological Center, which will be established under the umbrella of the Jeddah Chamber, is to solve the psychological, social, family and marital problems of both the male and female employees of the chamber, in addition to making them aware of underlying issues and equipping them with skills to overcome negative energy and nurture positive energy.
