Former Jeddah Selection member Abril Mabarit waxed hot to score a career-high 34 points and lead Napico to a shock 82-77 victory over hitherto unbeaten Woodrock while Combibo Catering I and Caravan bounced back to down opponents at the weekend in 2013 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawah Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
After a solid five straight victories, Woodrock saw its streak end courtesy of Napico which grabbed the solo lead in the Inter-Company Bonafide team standings.
Mabarit showed he still has his shooting touch despite advancing years to lead all scorers while Santos and Rarama supported him with a combined 27 points including their pesky defense against Bolo, Badajos and Bascones who really tried to get back in the game in the final period to no avail.
Jeddah Friendster Selection Mark Lagria was the main man in Combibo’s 92-88 triumph over Sleep High in the Inter-Commercial Division (Non-Rated). Genil top-scored for Combibo with 18 points while Lagria and Pasco each had 15 points.
Lagria, who scored all of his points in the second half, went on to grab best player of the game honors.
Sleep High dominated the first two quarters behind the trio of Bautista, Defensor and Razal. Combibo I tied the score at 63 to end the third period and turned the game around in the fourth quarter with a stifling defense that translated into points on the offensive end.
Zamoras and Joe Monding both enjoyed a great game, scoring 19 and 14 points as they powered Caravan to a 69-63 comeback victory over SMC in another Inter-Company Bonafide game.
Coming off a loss, Caravan did a good job defensively on SMC’s Laguyo and Nier at crunch time. Laguyo finished with 29 points and Nier had 15.
