The two secretariats of Makkah and Jeddah are working out the agenda of priorities to end the phenomenon of random and unstructured neighborhoods in the cities.
The step comes in line with the directions of Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, who is also president of the executive committee of the project. The plan is to address the problem of random neighborhoods in the region and lay out a ministerial draft that contains steps to speed up the pace of developing these neighborhoods in a maximum time frame of five years.
Prince Khaled stressed that the leadership of the country was keen on the achievement of the project to be in line with the accelerated pace of the urban development witnessed by the Holy City.
The executive committee of the project reviewed work reports, achievements, and hurdles that stand in the way of implementation.
The main hurdles that were discussed by the committee included the number of public notaries processing the real estate issues. The committee recommended increasing the staff to speed up the process, as there are 26,000 deeds for Makkah’s random neighborhoods alone.
Committee members suggested reducing the procedures to adopt special plans to develop random neighborhoods at the ministry of municipal and rural affairs.
The CEO of Al-Balad Al-Ameen Company, Abdullah Seraj Al-Deen said that the construction works will start at Al-Sharashef district right after Ramadan.
