Mile-high birth on flight to Manila

An overseas Filipino worker from Jeddah gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday morning while on board a Saudi Airlines plane flying over Indian airspace on the way to Manila.
Twenty-seven-year-old Judaman Salima ignored the pain at first because as far as she knew, her baby wasn’t due until August. But when the pain became unbearable, she called for help.
She was lucky because a Saudi nurse was on the same flight.
With the nurse and cabin crew assisting her, Salima gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Salima did not know that she had completed the full term of pregnancy. Five hours into the flight from Jeddah, she suddenly experienced contractions forcing her to call the attention of the flight attendants on board.
The captain of the flight was informed about Salima’s condition, and he, in turn, asked over the plane’s public address system if there were any medical staff on board to assist her.
