In a compassionate gesture which brought a smile on the faces of hundreds of workers, over 120 students distributed more than 20,000 bottles of water to expatriate laborers working under a scorching summer sun radiating 44 degrees Celsius in Alkhobar.
The humanitarian campaign was launched by the Alkhobar Seasonal Club at Guidance (Hidaya) office in Alkhobar last week. Bottled water was also distributed to people waiting in queues in several government offices and other public areas.
Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al-Shehri, manager of the club, said: “We have allocated one day for each member of a family to distribute bottles of water in different areas in Alkhobar, including the Industrial City, Labor Office and sheep markets at noon.”
Al-Shehri said the main objective of the campaign is to educate and expose students to voluntary work and also to empathize with those working under such harsh conditions during the summer season. “The smile on the faces of workers when they were given water bottles is the reward to the students for their efforts,” he said.
