Defending champion Shabab SABB mentored by Ahmed Qarquosh finally hit its target and claimed a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the third session in the InterBank Tenpin Bowling League 2013 Conference at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center.
Fresh off a defeat, Shabab crushed SAIB 340-80. SABB heavyweight Luis Bonguit gave it his best shot to score the series of 831 and take home the Bowler of the Week award. Team captain Qarqoush came close on 825, second highest score of the evening, while Jaffer Al Kathiri and Fahad Al Heza rolled 755 and 712. Arnold Jesena tallied 482 in three games while Gerry Austria had 138 in one game.
For the Saudi Investment Bank, the leading point makers were the duo of Ed Robillos and captain Dong Calub with 771 and 708. They were assisted by Mike Benito and Siraj Zakaria who rolled 534 and 501 while Joey Salem, Eddison Austria and Julius Queypo tallied 341, 334 and 282 respectively.
SAMA-Abana continued its winning streak by beating past champion BSF 290-50. The quartet of Clem Guelas, Bernie Torres, Jun Macarandang and captain Teody Zulaybar inspired their teammates with solid series of 756, 750, 748 and 695. Jun Bolocboloc rolled 537 while Ranier Torres had 145.
BSF team captain Jun Bantug fired his best shots for a 784 while Noel Morales, Joseph Adao and Jerry Villanueva contributed 693, 648 and 647. Yusuf Fernandez and Edwin Timango had 350 and 322.
Saudi Hollandi Bank recorded another impressive victory against handicap-rich BSF-CBG 260-50. The five-man team of SHB managed to grab the first three games but lost the last game. Guest player Arnel Bernabe took center stage with an impressive series of 786 followed by Cholo Nieto (760), Gerry Ayonon (758), Clem Salazar (625) and Jil Hembra (632).
Ricky Dominguez and Alfred Estrada top-scored in BSF-CBG delivering their much-needed performances with 733 and 663. They were assisted by Abet Minoza, Guilber Masias and Tony Castil who tallied 544, 506 and 430.
Alinma Bank captained by Bobby Ting almost blanked former champion PNB Unified 150-50. Veteran Romy Burgos led his team to victory with 714 followed by Angelo Train (700), Abdulrahman Ahmed (644), Jerry Barce (619) and Obet Mata (610).
PNB’s top performer Mixi Lechuga was at his best to shoot 804 and become the third highest scorer of the week. He was assisted by Sonny Alviso who carded 541 while Roland Garcia and James Frizzle rolled 499 and 495. Tenz Taeza, Freddie Solomon and Ronald Cruz had 363, 316 and 313.
The tournament is played Wednesday nights at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center in a double-round robin eliminations, a mid-positioning, semifinals and championship rounds and is sponsored by all participating banks. Only bonafide employees and contractual staff of local banks are allowed to participate in the games.
Meantime, the tournament organized a maasalama (farewell) for one of its pillars, Rodel Yap, former ITBR chairman and senior manager of SHB Treasury who is set to leave the Kingdom for good. Yap received a gift certificate from current chairman Bobby Ting.
