The Ministry of Social Affairs has said that it has allocated SR102.4 million in support of charitable organizations throughout the Kingdom and would use automated transfer to hand over the allotted sums to beneficiaries.
Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Sadhan, deputy minister for social development, said: “The ministry is keen on supporting charities as a humanitarian service toward orphans, widows, divorced women, as well as the disabled and the elderly. The support is intended to aid family programs during Ramadan.”
Al-Sadhan said that the ministry would spare no effort in supporting charities toward implementing their financial and technical projects. “These efforts are positively impacting the community in various areas of service and social development,” he said.
Al-Sadhan said that this has only been made possible through the continuous support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman and by following the directives of Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othman, minister of social affairs.
Al-Sadhan said that the ministry would continue to support charities within its capability to provide quality programs for the public.
In a related matter, the Social Security Agency (SSA), an affiliate of the Ministry of Social Affairs, recently announced that it has deposited SR139.38 million in the accounts of beneficiaries enlisted in the social security program within the Cash Assistance for Food Program for Ramadan.
According to Khaled Al-Thibaiti, the ministry spokesperson, the funds were deposited based on the number of family members benefiting from the program in addition to their basic pension funds.
He said that the program was being implemented in line with a royal decree, which stipulated that the size of a family benefiting from the Cash Assistance for Food Program would be raised from eight to 15 members. In addition, the minister of finance has allocated SR4.5 billion toward boosting the Social Security Programs.
He said that the Cash Assistance for Food Program was one of seven programs aimed at supporting needy families. Other programs cover home furnishing, school supplies, paying part of electricity bills, health insurance, production projects, and home restoration projects and are separate from regular monthly benefits.
Eligible beneficiaries of the social security program include widows, orphans, deserted family members, and people with temporary or permanent debilitating health conditions and disabilities.
