From as far as 57.5 points (348.5-291) on the 11th week Shawly Bowlers cut Ekis-4 lead down to 2.5 points after four weeks of grueling 120-65 chase on above average clip and a Team of the Week award during the 15th session of the FEDBG-FMBL Invitational Meet at the Bowling City here.
Ekis had dominated with five Team of the Week honors in nine weeks and above average production of 34 and 26 points on the 10th and 11th sessions with their stalwart Zaldy Bacero garnering four Bowler of the Week honors, the most of any player in the league.
But with Bacero skipping three sessions Ekis remarkably slowed and Shawly took advantage.
Ruel Perez stood out for Shawly best with back-to-back Bowler of the Week accolades on 12th and 13th weeks on totals of 673 (212, 198, 263) and 664 (228, 217, 219).
Helping Perez in Shawly’s pursuit of Ekis was Arnel Bautista who posted personal high game of 268 scratch on the 14th week.
Bautista surpassed target score with handicap of 271 with his 280 including 12 handicap but missed the individual honor when Nezar, a Syrian national, totaled 724.
Nezar posted games of 230, 278 and 216 in leading Leo Apacible-captained Lane Aligner Squad to 23 session points.
Though unlucky for BOW Bautista won the jackpot cash prize of SR 2,150.
The 15th week was another ruthless pursuit for Shawly with Cloyd Opena starring with 650 on games of 192, 264 and 194.
But like Bautista, Opena also missed BOW honor as Richard Antonio bested the session with his 707 (235, 226 and 246) that helped Silver Strike compile 31 points. Nurissa Ramos was the ladies Bowler of the Week with 628.
Perez and May Lourdes also contributed well with 631 and 619 toward Shawly output which further cut Ekis advantage to 2.5 points (413.5 – 411). Nestor Sanosa (598), Edison Arena (561) and Bautista (532) were the other Shawly scorers.
Micah’s Pride tied Shawly for Team of the Week honors at 33-all to keep third place at 401 points in front of Pin Rockers with 363.5.
Micah’s Pride got a boost from Rolly Vistal with 652, perfect-game achiever Melvin Lising 650, team captain Ester Santoc 600, Rey Feliciano and Oca Bernabe.
